The President of the United States, Donald Trump, in the final days of his office, has made further pardons to his former associates and supporters on Wednesday. This time he pardoned former campaign chief Paul Manafort, former advisor to Roger Stone and businessman Charles Kushner, father of his son-in-law Jared Kusher.
Manafort and Stone are leading figures in the investigation conducted by special prosecutor Robert Mueller into the so-called Russiagate, allegations of Russia’s involvement in the presidential election campaign in 2016.

Manafort led Trump’s election campaign in 2016. He was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for financial crimes he committed during his work in Ukraine.
