Sen. Rick Scott(R-Fla.), the new chairman of the National Republican Politician Senatorial Committee (NRSC), stated on Jan. 21 that he’ll back GOP incumbents even if previous President Donald Trump or his family were to get associated with the 2022 Senate races.
” I’m supporting incumbents,” Scott stated during a press instruction on Capitol Hill when continued reports that Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, might be thinking about running alongside fellow Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in 2022.
He stated that “no one has talked with me” or verified the reports, noting that he hasn’t talked with Trump given that he left workplace.
” No one. I’ve tried to call around. Nobody’s stated anything about Florida,” he said.
Scott, who voted on Jan. 6 to object to the accreditation of electoral college votes in Pennsylvania, duplicated his stance when asked if he would back Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) against a Trump-backed challenger.
As the brand-new NRSC head, Scott is in charge of spearing the GOP’s effort t
