Trump administration clears the way for President-elect Biden’s shift to officially begin

WASHINGTON– A crucial Trump administration appointee stated Monday she would permit President-elect Joe Biden to begin his main shift– leading the way for his team to get access to rundowns, workplace, safe computer systems and other federal government services required for the transfer of power.

It marked a formal acknowledgment by President Donald Trump’s administration that Biden won the Nov. 3 election, although the president has declined to concede and continues to make unwarranted claims of citizen fraud.

Emily Murphy, the head of the General Solutions Administration, holds the secrets to shift funds and tools, but she had delayed issuing an official decision recognizing Biden’s win, as the Trump project submitted a flurry of suits challenging the outcomes.

Murphy’s letter to Biden came hours after Michigan’s four-member elections board voted to certify Biden’s win in that state by 154,187 votes. And on Friday, Georgia’s Republican governor accredited his state’s results after a hand recount, which ended with Biden ahead of Trump by about 12,000 votes. Biden earned 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232, with 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency.

In a pair of tweets, Trump stated he gave the greenlight to Murphy’s decision, because it remained in the “benefit of our country.” But Trump said he would continue objecting to the outcomes.

” When you remain in public life, individuals remember the last thing you do,” Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., saidMonday. He stated he hoped Trump would “take pride in his substantial achievements, put the country initially and have a prompt and organized shift to help the new administration prosper.”

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.V., also advised Trump to work together with a smooth shift, saying that there was no indication of prevalent citizen scams and that “at some time, the 2020 election should end.”

For Democrats, Monday’s decision brought a sigh of relief.

” This is most likely the closest thing to a concession that President Trump might provide,” said Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer of New York City. “Let all of us now– Democrats and Republicans, the Trump Administration and the inbound Biden Administration– join together for a smooth and serene transition that will benefit America.”

Biden’s shift team also praised the relocation, calling it the “final decision” and a “conclusive action” needed for an or
